DUBAI HARVARD FOUNDATION FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH PRINCE ALWALEED BIN TALAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

The Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research (DHFMR) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2020 Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Research Fellowship.  The Fellowship recognizes talented young investigators from the MENA region and are intended to give recipients the flexibility to explore fundamental scientific questions and to lead to a better understanding of the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. 

The recipients of the Prince Alwaleed Bin Tala Research Fellowship are:

Dr. Mehmet Furkan Burak for his project:  “Targeting the adipo-pulmonary axis via FABP4 to prevent and treat obesity-related asthma”.  Dr. Burak will conduct his research in the Sabri Ülker Center for Metabolic Research and the Hotamışlıgil lab at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health with Dr. Gökhan S. Hotamışlıgil.

Dr. Manal S. Zaher for her project: “Characterizing the last steps of DNA replication termination in Xenopus laevis using single molecule imaging”.  Dr. Zaher will be working with Professor Johannes C. Walter in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School.

 

DHFMR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP AWARDS

Over the past 15 years the Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research has supported ten post-doctoral Research Fellowships in addition to four research center grants and since 2007 has funded over 300 students attending the HMS Post Graduate Medical Education courses and HMS Master programs.
